For no particular reason except seasonal curiosity, I've been looking at homes in the area. I've decided I need to become a builder, because I just don't believe it's necessary for homes to be so damn ugly. Stupid floorplans on the inside, blah or worse facades on the outside. I'm tired of seeing ugly homes.

So, anyone know how to become a builder? I suppose winning the lottery is involved....

PSU has an architecture program (with a pretentious website, unfortunately).

I'm thinking there could be a booming business in renovating the ugly from blah to beautiful.

I had forgotten about PSU's arch program. You're right about that pretentious website.

There are definitely plenty of cosmetic upgrades that could be done to improve homes -- especially exteriors. But renovating tract homes to fix stupid floorplans is unlikely to be worth the money or effort involved. I'd like to say I'm looking forward to the day when they just start building them right in the first place, but I'm not optimistic that will happen anytime soon.
