Technology is cool
Jun. 29th, 2005 02:00 pmMy brother used his cellphone to call me at 11:30 this morning. He's in Southern California, on I-5.
"Traffic's not moving, and I see a big plume of black smoke. The radio stations aren't saying anything. Can you find out on the Internet what's going on?"
I tried searching Google News "los angeles." Nothing. Tried "fort tejon," got an answer:
"A tanker truck carrying jet fuel overturned."
Half an hour later I was able to call him back, "CHP just re-opened the Southbound lanes. You'll be on your way soon."
