dampscribbler | No baby today, again

Just got back from the dr.'s office. Even though we only had a 10 minute appt. scheduled, she spent a lot of time talking with me about the communication sheet I finally remembered to take in. The communication sheet is a description of what I'd prefer to have and not have happen as a matter of course while in labor and delivery. Since all kinds of things can change it, one must be flexible, but it's a nice thing to have anyway. The most interesting part is that some things we learned about in the childbirth class, esp. pain relief methods, may not be available at our facility. Considering that the childbirth class was taught at our facility, it struck me as odd. Perhaps there should be more communication between the facility and the instructors they contract to teach the classes. Mmmm-hmmm.

So, I'm obviously (to me and the dr.) not in labor. The baby seems fine, up to 7 or 7.5 lbs. I've only gained a pound in the past week, and my blood pressure is remarkable (both the nurse and the dr. said so.) Again, the doctor said "not today, but maybe tomorrow." I'm guessing not tomorrow, either, which is okay, as I've got some cleaning up to do around the house. My doctor is on call Saturday, which would mean she would "catch" the baby if I had it then, but we can't really control these things. For some reason, Sunday seems more likely to me than Saturday.

But I really need to stop trying to guess.
