Pregnancy update
Jul. 21st, 2004 01:47 pmGot felt up by the doctor today. She asked if I was feeling contractions and I said I don't think so, or maybe I'm just used to them. She said, "don't worry, this doesn't mean you'll be pregnant forever." Sounds silly, but it was nice to hear. She said the cervix is soft, (which is a good thing) but no dilation yet. "Not today," she said, "but maybe tomorrow."
I so like my doctor.
I've lost two pounds since last week, and the baby doesn't seem much bigger than a week ago, but Dr. didn't seem concerned about that. My blood pressure is better than it was, too. Maybe I needed to lose those pounds. I definitely feel better today than I did a week ago.
Quick appointment, so that's about all there is to tell.
I know about 5 people with the same birthday as my brother (Jan. 22), six people with the same birthday as my uncle (Jan. 26), including his own daughter, five people with the same birthday as my mother (Nov. 19), including 2 babies born in the past 2 years, and at least 5 people with the same birthday as me (Oct. 13), including two sets of twins. In addition, my dad was born on his parents' anniversary (Aug. 25) and my husband and I had our first date on my Grandma's birthday (Sept. 3). With all these meaningless coincidences in mind, here are some dates I may have this baby:
July 24 -- my parents' anniversary
July 25 -- my friend Zoe's birthday
July 29th -- because it's a Thursday, and I was born on a Thursday, and I used to say for years, "if something's gonna happen, it'll happen on a Thursday," though eventually that stopped being true
July 31 -- full moon. I was born under a new moon. Whatever.
Aug. 3 -- my dad's sister's birthday
Aug. 5 -- my college mentor's birthday, and what I believe to be my actual due date (also a Thursday)
Aug. 8 -- the due date my doctor's office gave me
Aug. 9 -- my friend Beth's birthday, and the popular choice on my poll.
Aug. 15 -- the day my in-laws arrive
