I had a bit of trouble sleeping last night. At first it was just because my hips felt locked into place. Being pregnant sometimes feels much like having a pelvis full of hardened concrete. (Other times its much more like heavy jell-o, wobbling unexpectedly and somewhat amusingly.) Last night the concrete seemed to extend to the hip joints, so that moving was a lot of work.

Then my sinuses got blocked up, and that was that for a while. It took about two hours before I could breathe through my nose again; in the meantime I was awake and worrying. Luckily, I wasn't worrying about realistic things like the baby, but about calamitous but unlikely things like crazed gunmen storming one of my favorite coffee shops. (While I am in said coffee shop, of course.) So, about 6:30, when hubby had to wake, I was just again falling asleep. That lasted until 9 or so, and I felt much better.

The big event of the day was my 20-week pregnancy appointment. All of the news is good. Got to hear the heartbeat again, which is always exciting. I'd love to have one of those little machines at home so I can listen to her heartbeat every night before I go to sleep. I've gained 10 pounds, which I believe is spot-on where I ought to be now. I'm cranky and uncomfortable (not necessarily in that order,) but that, too, is normal, so I'm happy. (That may not make any sense to you at all if you've never been pregnant.)

Halfway there! Time to start shopping for pediatricians, clothes, and, well, I suppose just about everything else....

You are so right about the concrete/jello thing! I think I dislike the concrete hips the most. I've found that if I'm standing for more than about 20 minutes my hips/pelvis get that concrete feeling.

Glad to hear that the 20 week checkup was all good! You can rent baby dopplers you know...I don't know how much they cost. I didn't do it because I was afraid I would work it wrong, not be able to find the heartbeat, and then totally freak out. :)
