We here on the West Coast are under the impression that you there on the East Coast are facing The End of The World. And none of you are posting on LJ about evacuation or hoarding food or anything, so I'm wondering who is misinformed? I hope it's me, and I hope you all stay safe and relatively dry this weekend.

I'm not going to read it because I don't want to freak myself out, but haven't they been talking about that for ages?

As long as I stay inside, there is no worry about getting wet:D Damn hurricane season.

I figured I had better read it, and even though it's pretty damn scary I am glad I did. It makes me realize how I am not only unprepared for this disaster, but that much of what I have been thinking is preparedness will likely backfire on me (for example, having gobs of good in glass jars that absolutely will not survive 5 minutes of shaking on a shelf in my garage.) I'm starting to brainstorm other ways to keep supplies (1)intact and (2) located where they'll be useful.

California has been talking about "the big one" for ages, and doing some preparing, but it's only been in the last 15 years or so that Oregon has started talking about "our" Big One, and it's so different than what I'd expect in Southern California. We really need to be talking about this a whole lot more.
