Still no oven. Still no sinks. But, we're getting closer. Two guys came to install the new range today -- one to do the gas and one to do the electric. My guess is this will ultimately cost almost twice as much as the guy who refused to do it would have cost. But then, he wouldn't do it, would he? And don't think that some people aren't going to hear about that.

So, why do I still have no oven or stove? Because Washington County must inspect the work before the gas can be run through the new line. Because the gas technician had to leave before the inspector showed up (whenever the hell that might be), and with luck he or another tech will be back tomorrow to finish the job, but really, can I hold my breath for such a thing at this point?

I called to find out where my faucets were. They are in the warehouse. They haven't shipped yet, but they will today. So, we should have them between Monday and Friday of next week. We're putting an old sink back in upstairs so we can at least have one. The new sinks are actually here, but since the old faucets are still in the old sinks we'll probably just put one of the complete sink/faucet combos back into our bathroom for now. It will be nice to brush my teeth within view of my bed again.

I've learned one very important thing about myself this week, though. I've always been something of a slob, and I have begun to wonder whether I might someday wind up like these infamous guys, the Collyer brothers of New York. Due to having removed nearly everything from our kitchen, master bath, and storage space, we have stuff stuff stuff everywhere, and I'm a little relieved to report that it is making me insane having all of this stuff everywhere. I could never get to the point that the Collyer brothers got to, because I would dump it all at the curb or set it all alight in the driveway before I ever got even close to that level of disarray.

See -- there really is a silver lining behind every cloud.

Now if only that inspector would get here. I need a nap.

Ugh. Now I remember why we haven't done any of the house-fixing we've been meaning to do for a year. It's a full time job just coordinating the different contractors and dealing with the inevitable problems! Just think though, when you're done you'll have this nice gas stove to cook on. I hope it goes more smoothly for you from here on out.

Are we still on for tomorrow?

Looking good for tomorrow -- the gas dude (or dudette) should be here between 1:00 and 3:00, and even if he/she/they don't get here til 3 it should only take ~15 minutes to finish (haha assuming everything goes well haha). Can I call you at work if it all goes to hell?

We said 4:30 right?
