Not long ago I took Maggie to Powell's to hear [livejournal.com profile] lisa_schroeder read from her new midgrade book "It's Raining Cupcakes."  We enjoyed the reading and had Lisa sign Maggie's book afterward, and came home and read the book at bedtime over the next week or two.  This weekend Maggie decided that since "we've only read it once" that she wants to hear it all over again!  I'm thrilled, and I suspect Lisa will be, too!  (Quick reminder for any of you wondering -- Maggie will be 6 this summer.)

Ahhh... that is so sweet!!

I had a mom of a kindergartner write me recently whose daughter wanted her mom to read it to her, so they read it at bath time every night. They had never read a chapter book together before, so she was a little apprehensive, but they finished it!

I was just sure that would put a smile on your face! :-)

A friend gave us "The Mouse and the Motorcycle" for her birthday last year, and we've also read "Little House in the Big Woods," but this is the first time she has asked to read a chapter book a second time. I'm actually enjoying noticing the foreshadowing this time around, it's been a long time since I've had the luxury of re-reading a book. (I've been wanting to get back to Philip Pullman's "Dark Materials" books ever since I first read them a decade ago!)

We're sure hoping there's a sequel to this one! :)
