Thankful Thursday post

I'm thankful for LJ and all of you, so that I have a place and people to whom I can admit that I'm not feeling okay about little things like my always-seem-to-be-learning-them-six-months-late parenting skills.  And y'all relate and get me laughing and I feel better.

I'm thankful for laughter, which I'm discovering is a valuable parenting tool.  I wish my mom had known that.  I'm thankful that Maggie knows it, and that she and I can get each other laughing when we need it.  And I'm thankful that I figured out to pay attention to her when she took the lead on laughing.   

Thankful for sunshine today, even though it's cold outside and I'm shivering deep down to my innards. 

Thankful for a warm Bucky on my shoulders.  And occasionally on my head and ears.  Ahhhh, warm ears. 

Thankful for the sauna at the gym, which I'm going to try to get to later today. 

Thankful for physical therapy.

I don't think my family started laughing until my little sister was born; that was when I was 15!

It's very hard for me to be silly in front of other people to this day :P.

I find tickling and exaggerated facial expressions (think Jim Carrey) are a big hit with the little one. Wacky voices, too. Fun!

I'm trying to let go of that stick up my ass; some days I'm better at it than others ;-).

I never did it before having a kid of my own. Something about parenthood makes you willing to do things you never imagined before. :)

I imagine if I were around children more, I might act sillier more often. My gf is a big goofball; she encourages me quite a bit :D.

You're going on vacation soon, right? We're going on one (cold) and planning another (warm.) Just trying to figure out what we can afford!

Indeed!

Yes, we're going skiing for a week in Northern Italy, and then to NYC for about 5 days. Not a warm trip, although I'm hoping for a fair amount of sun while skiing.

Where are you going? And what warm locales are you considering? I've been seeing lots of deals for Hawai'i.
