The number one drama of being a parent who is easily distracted is the fact that your kid knows this and does everything in her power to get you off-task as often as possible.

And yet you manage to leave a post that takes me three minutes to read ;-).

Children always seem to know what your weakness is and exploit it. Oooh, look at THAT button!

I wrote that while she was at daycare. That was the most coherent post I've made in about two years, I think, and it took me 40 minutes. Which makes it difficult to confidently approach the computer when I've got 10 minutes and something to say and believe that I'll actually be able to say it in that time.

No wonder people Twitter. :)

Practice works - That was a great anthro-contemplation post back there.

Yeah. I feel like my brain is incapable of long bursts of sustained thought any more after 6 1/2 years of continuous child care. It's why, when I have a whole morning to myself, it gets completely frittered away.

Which is exactly what I'm doing right now

Oh, thank you! I thought it was just me. I've been so overscheduled this week that today is my first "me" time, and I can't even figure out what I want to do. It will be over soon, do something!!!!

I either have to commit to working on something (and not be distracted by something else) or I have to make a list the day before. Either way, I still make a plan the day before in order to do something "useful" with the time rather than fritter it away.

Yep. Except when there's no time or mental energy the day before to make a plan. :/

I've decided today is "down" time. I'm going to read and scribble in my journal. And, obviously, LJ. :)
