Jan. 16th, 2007 06:18 amAt 3:30 this morning the coyotes howled outside our house. I've been awake since. I finally got up at 5 to find a light dust of snow on the ground and a forecast for "snow turning to freezing rain" today. Brilliant.
The weather report on the local news station is calling it "inclement weather." After 16 years on the west coast, I still find it weird to call snow in January inclement. As far as I'm concerned, this has been a great winter. Less rain and gloom than usual (which reminds me, I keep meaning to write about Christmas, when my family came to visit and complained about the gloomy weather. I live in Oregon, folks -- the only way to cope with the gloom is to do your best to ignore it), more sun and snow than usual. It's actually been quite lovely. Although I am looking forward to Spring.
Also, I'm looking forward to sleeping past 3:30 am. Maybe tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the snow is currently falling fast and furious. It's lovely. I wish it weren't going to turn to ice later. Snow is way better than ice. But this is Oregon, after all -- you rarely get snow without ice.
