A whole new set of friends
Feb. 6th, 2004 01:43 pmThe internet is an amazing place. In the past few weeks, I've discovered several women (I can't call them a group, but most of them seem to have electronically met each other, which may make for some sort of group-like thing) who intelligently and sometimes emotionally put themselves out there into e-space. I've come to really like these people I've never met. Check out the links on the right-hand side of my LJ page to get to know Miki (at Theory of the Daily), Leah ("Struggle in a Bungalow Kitchen"), Clotilde (at "Chocolate and Zucchini"), and Charlotte (at LivingSmall). Deb at MurrayHill5 just had a baby and isn't posting much at the moment. Rayne at Rayne Today is campaigning for Howard Dean but should be back soon. Kathy at A Cautionary Tale doesn't post much, but lives in Indianapolis, so often says something I am interested in when she does. Richard at Living Code writes occasionally about science topics and is not, as far as I can tell, a woman, so he's the odd one out, but still worth reading.
I find that Miki, Leah, and Rayne, especially, get me thinking about things I had come to believe no one outside of a college campus really thought much about. It's heartening, truly, to find women who aren't afraid to ask questions and voice their opinions and even change their minds.
I feel strangely lucky.
