Focus
Motherhood gets in the way of focus. I am a person who needs some time and space to focus intensely on a project in order to get it done well. Mothering is about constant interruption, or very limited spans of time in which to get things done. I really, really miss having opportunities to focus intensely on a project, to allow myself time to craft some writing about a subject that is important to me without wondering if I'll be forced to abandon it before it's done.
There's a lot to say on this subject. I hope to be revisiting it over time.
Meanwhile, OMG this is a funny picture:

Not a funny story, really:

You know, I don't have children, and I still find it hard to find the time and space to get immersed in a project. Maybe it's just my personality type, though.

Adulthood has so many varied demands, it can be hard to balance them all. I miss college sometimes, there were far fewer expectations then, esp. since earning money was not one of my responsibilities, though I know that was not true for many students.

Yeah, seriously. I sometimes wonder how I used to keep my room so clean. And then I remember I didn't have to do things like work for a living :P.

We got out. It was awesome. I'm thinking of doing it again.
