I finally added to my wordcount today! I only got about 700 words in, but they're not half bad. They're not fully good, by any stretch of the definition, but they aren't half bad, and that's cool.
I have a setting, sort of. I have a character, sort of. I have a conflict, sort of. I know where I'm going, sort of.
This is very exciting!
It's kind of awful, though, how important this feels sometimes. Like I'm doing brain surgery or striving for world peace or dismantling Monsanto or something really really important like that. It's a story. A first draft of a story, at that. Cut loose, have fun, lighten up.

Date: 2003-11-10 09:31 pm (UTC)My internal editor is a bastard p*ick. I've only managed about 200 words today. It's all kinds of fun in my head, but once I get to the page that voice starts telling me how awful my story is.
Man, I want to shut that guy up.
