On laziness

Yes, I am busy, the babe and the house make sure of that, but I'm also sloppy, or what might be called lazy. I have a thought, make an observation, and rather than taking the effort required to record it in my preferred medium -- the written word, -- I think "oh, I wish I could keep this," and then I feel a little sad, and then I get on to the next requirement of my day.

So, here is an attempt, a moment of practice let's say, to use language to tell something beautiful. Because I just went upstairs to check on Eric and Maggie. They had gone up to change her diaper, and then I didn't see them come back down. I walked into our room, and Eric was laying on his belly on the bed, looking into Maggie's co-sleeper, which is attached to the bed. He had been trying to comfort Maggie to sleep. I peeked over him and saw her head turned toward him, eyes closed. He had succeded! She was asleep! Then I walked around to get a better look. Eric's hand was holding Maggie's tiny hand, and his eyes were closed too. And my heart filled up with giggles and the sounds of bells singing.

It was a pretty amazing moment. I'm so glad I took the time to write it down.
