What is it about Kid Rock that makes me look away? It's like when you're on the highway and you come upon a car accident, and you start to look and realize you may see something you really don't want to and you look away. Kid Rock is like that.

I would agree with that.

Too true. Just out of curiousity, what brought this on?

Channel-surfing the TV. Caught about 30 seconds of a profile of Kid Rock himself. Ack.

He sang the national anthem at the NBA finals last night. Well, he was supposed to. As soon as I saw him walk onto the court, I switched channels...

Hey, I went to the Patricia Wells book reading at Powell's Books for Cooks last week. She's delightful. The cutie-pie chef from Navarre brought food. Yum.

Too bad I live so far West, I'd love to get to Powell's Books for Cooks regularly. Sounds like a wonderful event, I'm sorry to have missed it.

Maybe the pot belly? I don't mind him, but I'll admit he's not the most attractive guy in show business.

Mmm, there's more to it than looks, although his looks are definitely not pretty. Maybe it has something to do with a 33-year-old calling himself "Kid" anything. I really don't know.

Kid Rock, to me, defines a lot that is wrong with our culture today. I'm sorry you had to be exposed to him.

I'm sorry any of us have had to be exposed to him. I'm definitely interested in reading Wardo's Treatise on Kid Rock and What is Wrong With Our Culture Today, whenever you feel like writing it.

I don't know if I could come up with something on that topic that wasn't completely repetitive and/or incoherent. I can tell you that I've heard more Kid Rock (and Sheryl Crow, and Kid Rock & Sheryl Crow) in the six months I've lived in Chicagoland than I had in the previous year. Luckily for me, this seems to be waning somewhat, or at least our downstairs neighbors have stopped blasting their music and yelling along at all hours.

Maybe neighbors are What's Wrong With Our Culture Today. We have one who likes to blast 70's rock (Skynyrd!!) from his F-350, parked on the street, doors open for accoustical perfection (ahem). Luckily he usually stops it after a song or two.
