Baby bed on the way!

My mom ordered this baby bed for us this weekend. I love the idea of having the baby in the room with us, instead of having to wander across the house for middle-of-the-night feedings.

I'm 3-1/2 months away from my due date. Guess it's time to start buying baby things.

Can't believe I'm gonna be a mom.

Wow.

I love the cosleeper idea. I wish we could use one. Unfortunately there's no room for it (hard to explain, but there are walls in the way). I've heard great things about the cosleeper though!

Do you have room for a bassinet or cradle at the food of the bed? At least it would get you through the earliest months.

I feel really lucky that we have a bedroom big enough to accommodate our bed plus the co-sleeper. I know plenty of people just don't have that kind of space.

But..., but..., that means you can't yell "Shut up and go to sleep!" and close the door if baby keeps whining in between feedings!

You make a good point. Well, if it becomes a problem, there's always another bedroom I can go sleep in....

Aww... is this your mom's first grandchild?

A word of advice on buying baby clothes: space out the sizes so you have a lot of things for 6 mos and 9 mos. They outgrow the newborn sizes fast and that's usually what most people give as gifts, too, because they're so cuuuuuute. With my first baby, I found out that when we got to nine months he didn't have anything to wear!

Yep, first grandbaby on both sides, so we have lots of gleeful grandparents-to-be getting excited. Apparently my MIL is planning on feeding my little darling lots of junk food -- she asked my husband last week whether that would be okay. He said "she said it in such a way that made it clear she would do it whether it was okay or not, she just wanted to know whether she could tell us about it." Goody. The paternal grandparents will be the spoilers. Good to know now.

Thanks for the clothing tip, I've actually heard that so much from other moms that when I buy baby-shower gifts now I try to get 3-6 or 6-9 month clothes. I'm also really lucky in that I know a couple of people who had babies last year and are sharing outgrown clothes with me. :-)

You're gonna be a kickass mom. For realz.

Here's something crazy to think about: When I graduate from college, your kid'll be old enough for preschool. YIKES.

Thanks. I hope so! :)

Oh, that's not nearly as crazy as the fact that you were starting preschool when I was graduating college. And now you're going to college. That's yikes!
