Hyperbolic paranoia

What if I write a really good book but nobody reads it and I become convinced that the world is peopled with nothing but fools and idiots and my only option is a life of sour misanthropy?

Okay, glad I got that out of my system!  Onward!

Have faith and keep writing. I think that if you are pleased with your writing, that is a good outcome. (I just wrote some fanfic about Merlin and hardly anyone has commented on it. I was feeling kind of bad about that until my collaborator made a comment to me about how pleased she was that anyone was commenting and that we had a great time writing it.)

Yep, I will have to accept that just because I think it's awesome doesn't mean the rest of the world will agree with me. And, frankly, they don't have to. :-)

So basically it would be just like our life now, except you wrote your book. Sounds like a good baseline to me.

Point taken.

I'll read it! (I'm not denying I'm a bit of an idiot, but I'll read it!)

Idiots are welcome to read it, but they have to love it and buy copies for all of their friends. ;-)
