Food blogging goes SuperBowl

Giving a whole new spin to the term SuperBowl, I suppose....

For those of you not familiar with food blogging, it's pretty much just what it sounds like: people write about food, and cooking, and their experiments with both. The act of writing about food inspires some of us to experiment more than we might otherwise. I'm guessing that was the case with this guy, who decided Janet Jackson's boob needed to be reproduced in his kitchen, and the results then immortalized on the Internet.

I'm just here to pass the info along.

I'm considering some food/home/garden blogging of my own, as this will be a year of big changes around the house. I do not expect boob cupcakes to play any role in my own kitchen, however.

You've mentioned some kitchen renovations; what will be going on in the garden this year and how, if at all, is it different from years past?

Last year we began renovating the backyard -- turning it from a dry yet moss-infested lawn to a garden with your typical Northwest plants like hydrangeas, azaleas, camellias, heathers (natch), and, of course, some more moss. We still need to finish the walkway that we want to have meandering through it, and, if there is time and money, add some yard lights.

The front yard is a mess, and probably will remain so for another year, but I do have one plan -- container gardening. The house faces South, so the front yard gets the summer sun all day long (except early morning). I've been wanting to grow vegetables ever since we got a house, and for reasons I'll go into some other time, I'm feeling keen on putting them in containers. I've never grown vegetables before, and most everything I have tried to grow from seed has failed sooner or later, so I have my doubts, but I really want to have my own zucchini and tomatoes and such this year.

That is some creative baking that guy's got there. :)

Apparently it has made him somewhat famous. Check out his more recent entries at http://www.amateurgourmet.com

No doubt there will be someone next year whose memory is long enough -- and that person will serve boobie cupcakes at their superbowl party. But somehow I don't expect to see the recipe in my coupon circulars in the Oregonian next January....
