Last year we began renovating the backyard -- turning it from a dry yet moss-infested lawn to a garden with your typical Northwest plants like hydrangeas, azaleas, camellias, heathers (natch), and, of course, some more moss. We still need to finish the walkway that we want to have meandering through it, and, if there is time and money, add some yard lights.
The front yard is a mess, and probably will remain so for another year, but I do have one plan -- container gardening. The house faces South, so the front yard gets the summer sun all day long (except early morning). I've been wanting to grow vegetables ever since we got a house, and for reasons I'll go into some other time, I'm feeling keen on putting them in containers. I've never grown vegetables before, and most everything I have tried to grow from seed has failed sooner or later, so I have my doubts, but I really want to have my own zucchini and tomatoes and such this year.
