Lowered expectations
Apr. 27th, 2009 10:12 pmI started today by telling my wonderful physical therapist that I wasn't feeling great, that I was bummed by the gloomy weather and overwhelmed by all the expectations I have of myself, and all of the things that "need" to get done. She gave me one extremely low-key exercise to do (as in practically invisible to the untrained eye) and told me for the next week to just do a few a day, working up to 10 a day if possible by next Thursday.
I still managed to hurt myself.
However, my permission to do less led me to accomplish today several things I've been putting off for about two weeks. I still have a long, overwhelming list, but it's shorter than it was this morning, by a noticeable amount.
Cool.
