The number one drama of being a parent who is easily distracted is the fact that your kid knows this and does everything in her power to get you off-task as often as possible. 

Thankful Thursday post

I'm thankful for LJ and all of you, so that I have a place and people to whom I can admit that I'm not feeling okay about little things like my always-seem-to-be-learning-them-six-months-late parenting skills.  And y'all relate and get me laughing and I feel better.

I'm thankful for laughter, which I'm discovering is a valuable parenting tool.  I wish my mom had known that.  I'm thankful that Maggie knows it, and that she and I can get each other laughing when we need it.  And I'm thankful that I figured out to pay attention to her when she took the lead on laughing.   

Thankful for sunshine today, even though it's cold outside and I'm shivering deep down to my innards. 

Thankful for a warm Bucky on my shoulders.  And occasionally on my head and ears.  Ahhhh, warm ears. 

Thankful for the sauna at the gym, which I'm going to try to get to later today. 

Thankful for physical therapy. 

The end of the world as I once knew it

I saw the word "community" used on the front page of the newspaper today.

They were talking about a small town in my state.  I thought they were talking about something on the Internet.  I don't even know if I am capable of conceptualizing a physically-located "community" anymore.
