Dale Messick, the creator of the comic "Brenda Starr, Reporter," has died.
I hadn't really given Brenda Starr a thought in years, but circa 1980, Brenda Starr was one of my favorite comics. She was a grown-up Nancy Drew, sparkling with glamour, a tough reporter who could break a story in 4-inch heels. She was a cool role model for a high-school freshman geek in suburban Chicago.
