Painting

We've been thinking for a while now of repainting Maggie's bathroom, a small room painted deep dark green.  She requested pink and blue, so I picked up some sample paints some weeks back and slapped them on a couple of corners.

Bad idea. 

Now we had pink splotches on green walls.  For several weeks.  And guests on the way right after Thanksgiving.  Guests who redecorate as a pastime. 

It was time to correct this problem.  So, last week I ran down to Home Depot and acquiesced to a couple of items in their Disney color selection -- Bibbity Bobbity Blue (I'm not kidding) and a pink I've forgotten the name of but I've come to think of as Retinal Burn Rose.  This weekend we painted.

And painted.

And painted.

And today, I painted some more.  I think we may be done, except for touching up some edges and corners as we notice missed bits.  

Let this be a lesson to you -- when painting over a dark color, primer is a *very* good idea.

Were you at least able to dictate your Great American Novel whilst painting?

I hope we're finished, too, but until we start using the room I won't know for sure. :)

I found myself thinking a lot about my non-fiction while I was working, and I realized that I should have a tape recorder I can just shout this stuff into while my hands are occupied. I used to have a mini recorder in college (remember Twin Peaks? Heehee. I felt so Cooper-ish with that thing!) but God only knows where it's magpied away now.

Congrats on your 23,000 (or was it 32,000?) words! Woohooo!

Well, I'll be thinking positive thoughts for you on the painting!

You know, I did watch Twin Peaks when I was in college, but I'm damned if I can remember any of it! I watched solely for the social contact. I liked thinking it meant I was part of a clique.

32K! Almost all of which is utter garbage. I think I have about 5K on my fiction story that I started last week. I'm kind of excited to be writing fiction. It's so ... new! Thanks!
