How appropriate

As I sit sweating the budget for the rest of this year (trying to figure out how to hoard money now in case of layoff later -- guess what, we can't), the doorbell rings and bingo, here's my copy of Margaret Atwood's Payback: Debt and the Shadow Side of Wealth. Aside from mentioning that I probably should have gotten this from the library, I'll just let the moment speak for itself.

I have a very bad habit of getting lots of things from the library and never reading any of them. And then returning them late and paying a fine. But when a book comes in the mail, I at least start reading it. Which I've done with "Payback." So far, I like it, although she's definitely more "social" scientist than "economic" scientist. More later -- I'll try to post a full review here in a week or so.
