My joints don't ache.  Nothing hurts.  My eyes are not longing to close.  I am not dreading the responsibilities of dinner, playtime, bathtime, bedtime. 

In other words, this is one of the twelve or so days a year when I feel like a normal human being.  I am grateful, but not content.  I want more.

I hate feeling so old. It's better than last year, at least, when I told my husband I was the tiredest person I've ever known, including people twice my age. (I was 40 at the time.) An average day this year has been better than an average day last year, I suppose. Still, I think how I feel today should be the rule, not the exception. Not very zen of me, I know.
