Actually feeling ready for Monday

I'm not sure I get it, but somehow this was a good weekend.  I did a boatload of laundry, cleaned 2 years' worth of pocket detritus off the top of my dresser (I'm not kidding, there were gas receipts from June 2006 up there), and attended a 4-year old's birthday party.  We arrived at the birthday party a few minutes early and were delighted to discover it was right next door to John Barleycorn's where we indulged in root beer (guess who), beer, and, for me, a Knob Creek.  Because I can't drink a beer in 10 minutes, but two ounces of bourbon goes down just fine.  Maggie kept smelling my bourbon and saying "yuuuuuummmm!!" which wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear when I let her smell it the first time, but I know where she gets it from.  The waiter got an enormous tip due to my poor math skills, essentially cancelling out the financial gains unearthed from my dresser-top, but oh it was so worth it.

I've got a whole lot more corners in this house to clean (and some rooms) but I'll take my clean dresser and smile and accept it as inspiration to keep going.  I only wish I knew what I did so right to get to Sunday night feeling so un-stressed and ready to move into the week.

Finally I have to take a moment to compliment the weather, which I'm so often complaining about.  It was pretty nice this weekend, warm without being hot, cool overnight so it's good for sleeping.  Very nice indeed.

I don't know about cleaning, but I really love Root Beer. Whiskey does smell good.

I recently found a beer that goes down real easy for those of us who only kind of like beer - that Sourghum stuff - Redbridge.

My trouble with beer isn't so much the flavor, it's that my body seems to tolerate alcohol better if it's delivered as unadulterated as possible. I used to really enjoy drinking beer, but now it makes me feel unwell.

Root beer I can do, though. Have you had the recently released Thomas Kemper with cane sugar? Bliss!!!

Achtually - my favorite kombucha brewers - High Country - released a Wild Root Kombucha, and, um, I like it loads (though I usually prefer my kombucha straight).

Rather spend my money on that then beer - and yes, the Kemper is very tasty.
