I'm so pleased you mention the Zilpha Keatly Snyder books - they were among my, if not the favourites of my childhood, and though I haven't seen the editions I read (or any) in decades it's amazing how easily I could summon up in my mind the exact illustrations used in The Headless Cupid and The Egypt Game and especially The changeling which was probably my favourite. I'm sure I never thought about the illustrations or who did them at the time, but the fact that they're still so clear in my memory and evocative of the stories they illustrated really says something about the artist.
Wow, I should really track some of those books down in reprint, or hunt for the originals. Great!
