Cell phone
Oct. 9th, 2006 01:40 amPlease, if you're reading this, I'd love to know what cell phone you have and what service you use and whether you like them or not. I haven't bought a cell phone in about 6 years and there seem to be so many choices and I have no idea how to decide.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Date: 2006-10-09 12:32 pm (UTC)Advantages:
-it's a "pre-pay" deal, which I had always associated with having to buy minutes cards at walmart until I looked into it. You register your credit card with their website, and then can put $ on the phone by entering a password on the phone itself. It's definitely saved me money, because you don't have to commit to a plan. I was paying probably $75/month from Verizon, and am now paying about $50/month for more features. I have paid as little as $20/month. Right now I'm on a pseudo plan... so many anytime minutes, free nights and weekends, but no commitment. I can switch to any other payment format anytime I want. It feels fair, which Verizon never did.
-It uses the sprint network, which around here anyway provides Much better service than Verizon.
-I really came to hate regular cellphone companies... service, billing, plans, argh! This arrangement is much more to my liking.
Disadvantages:
-limited number of phones to choose from. see http://virginmobileusa.com
-uses the sprint network... which doesn't have the coverage in remote areas (i'm told) that some of the other services do.
