Another milestone

We were all excited this morning because Maggie counted to five without any prompting.

Then this evening while I was making dinner she counted to ten!

My daughter is brilliant. Not that I'm biased. :)

Hip hip hurrah!

Fiona is still unclear on the concept of numbers. If you ask her how many of X there is, the answer is always, "Two!"

E.g. "How many heads do you have?"

"Two!"

(Everything used to be blue--well, "Boo!"--until a few of weeks ago.)

Maggie did that for a while. Then she got so excited about counting, if there were more of two than something, she'd count them all, by twos -- for example, five toys was "one... two... one... two... one...."

You know that law of thermodynamics -- for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction? Well, there seems to be something similar with babies. While her brain is growing by leaps and bounds, her sleep seems to be suffering. Ordinarily she's easy as pie to get down for a nap, but the past couple of days it's taken 35 and 55 minutes, respectively, to get her to sleep. :(

BTW, I finally started looking at your pictures of Fi. What a beautiful baby she is!!
