Happy Thanksgiving!
Nov. 28th, 2002 02:07 pmI've been making food all day today. Breakfast was French toast made with cranberry-walnut bread from New Seasons. Mmmmm. The turkey has been in the oven since noon, and the sides -- corn bread, mashed potatoes, and green bean casserole -- are waiting to be finished. The turkey will "rest" while the sides cook. I guess the turkey needs to rest, anyway, but if I had a bigger oven, we could eat sooner.
None of our friends could make it to our Thanksgiving dinner this year. In some cases, I waited too long to issue invitations. In other cases, the friends had plans to travel or to not travel already made long ago. So, Eric and I are just enjoying each other's company today.
Actually, Eric is napping in a chair in the sun.
I love Thanksgiving day. I got up early, made breakfast and coffee, watched the Macy's parade, and cooked and cooked. The oven has been on for hours, now. I started with the pumpkin pie. Mmmm.
Hurry up and be done, turkey.
