The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman has won the Newbery!  I read this book immediately after it was released last Fall and loved it, I think it's possibly Neil Gaiman's best work yet, so I'm tickled that it won the prestigious Newbery.

Laurie Halse Anderson ( [livejournal.com profile] halseanderson  )   won the Margaret A. Edwards award for her books Catalyst, Fever 1793, and Speak.  I haven't yet read any of these books, but when Chains was published earlier this year I read it and was very impressed with it, so much so that I found myself very glad that Laurie (if I may call her that) has published books that I haven't read yet so that I have something to catch up on!  I do hope you'll check out some of her books this year.

I had fun watching the webcast of the ceremony this morning on my laptop computer while Maggie drew sticker-pictures and we ate breakfast.  I love the Internet.  :-)

This is the first time in my life I have a President I actually *like.*  It feels...funny.  To want to know what he said and did today.  To be applauding his moves.  To actually care about his family.

I wonder how long it will last?
