Many many years ago, when I was still young-ish, there was a movie about a bomb that Dennis Hopper put on an LA bus. Everybody knows that only really poor people ride the bus in LA, although Alan Ruck was also on board this one, the toekn touris from Chicago, I guess. Sandra Bullock played a beautiful but obviously poor young woman (or perhaps just a tourist) who heroinically steered the bus through hours of LA traffic at the urging of a cop played by Keanu Reeves. Sandra and Keanu made a convincing team, one that we actually cared about by the end of the movie, and in my twenties it was all happy-feeling and nice to see them kiss at the end of the movie. (Hope I haven't given anything away for anyone.)

Well, Sandra and Keanu are "together again" in The Lake House. Even before I read anything about it, just seeing the two of them on screen again squicked me out. I think it's because I expect better of her. I think she could do better. It's like imagining myself back together with my first love, that relationship I went into all dreamy and came out of a little sadder but a lot more grown-up and with a better understanding of at least what doesn't make for a great relationship, if not necessarily more insight into what does. It would just be wrong. Horribly icky, pointless, and wrong. And seeing Sandra Bullock with Keanu Reeves again -- it's just wrong.
