I have never regretted discontinuing my German studies the way I have regretted it since reading this news.  I am, shall we say, excruciatingly impatient for the translation.

That's incredible!! My fiance speaks a little German...maybe enough to make some sense of these, considering von Schönwerth tried to stay true to the oral tradition. I'd welcome the English version but would love to get it in German too.

Isn't it wonderful? When I read the article I felt a little bit like a physicist might when reading about a new particle discovery, or a biologist about the re-discovery of a species thought extinct (which was also in the news this week, I'll try to find that and link to it.)

I am SERIOUSLY considering re-starting my German studies. (Basically from Ground Zero.)

The thought of so many stories recorded with minimal (or without) interpretation -- folklorists, storytellers, sociologists, anthropologists, possibly even linguists will be drooling like puppies.
